Spin That Wheel of Fortune (For Sarah)

Spin that
wheel of fortune,
listen to its clatter,
dance to its tune.

There is more
that you don’t know
than you do.

If you’re dropped
onto the stage
in the middle of an opera
and you don’t know the part,
sing anyways!

The surface of the placid
autumn lake
rarely stays smooth,
and neither should
your brain.

What we want is always
on a collision course with
what we need,

so,
take the stray fibers
of your memories
and weave wisdom
and understanding.

  6. 'If you can't sing good, sing loud!' and embrace everything that life throws at you. Love where this poem brought me. Well penned.

I love this...pretty much sing away to the words we feel deeply about.
You've crafted a poem like no other my friend...:)

  9. Those stray threads of memory can lead back to so many strange and interesting places. An interesting and perceptive poem. Nice job.

  10. "sing anyways!" I pity the ones who have to listen to me but it is either that or be silent - nope.
