We meet in the fog,
cool and soft.
Lost in
embraces
and glances anew,
doubt awakens:
will I still be
beautiful
once the fog
lifts?

Never doubt. Beauty resides within, and no fog can hide it. Great poem!
ReplyDeleteThanks, I agree beauty resides within.
Deletenice...i like this..has both..a good sense of humor but also the question that i think bothers all of us in specific moments
ReplyDeleteThank you - yes, the trick is to be in the moment and no where else.
Deletethe fog makes it easier...i guess its all in the perspective they take...is it the person they love or...
ReplyDeleteI'll take any advantage the fog affords. Thanks, Bro.
DeleteI venture to guess even more so :) Down with doubt and you'll shine bright enough to chase the fog away. Love "Soupy Sales Format" by the way...sums up the last 20 years of my life! :D
ReplyDeleteThere's always doubt, if you let it in. Thanks! Long Live Soupy!

DeleteLong Live Soupy!
Deleteah, the longing in that last question, who could fail to feel it? ... love the unique way you expressed it here
ReplyDeleteThank you- yes, self-doubt can be a killer.
DeleteOh, this is lovely! And I think most people woud relate.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I hope you related to it.
DeleteI have just been reading up about Soupy Sales. (Unknown to an Aussie like me.) Wow, what a man! But I didn't find any reference to the formula? Was that from his journalism days? Can you expand (briefly of course!)?
ReplyDeleteHi - Soupy Sales was a comic, not a journalist. He used to ask his viewers to write in but only "in 25 words or less" which is what I've deemed as the Soupy Sales Format.
Deletei want more... more of the doubt... more of the words... it's so well written and such an amazing thing told in such few words... totally pinning in on a superficial fear and hitting on the idea hiding in fog (perhaps being our true selves) ... in short, loved it, wanted more.
ReplyDeleteThanks- I thought - no prob 25 words. It forces one to edit. The first draft was 36 words.
DeleteLovely... and yes, I do hope so.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Me too!
DeleteI love short poems . .this one was perfect! :) Is a Soupy Sales poem just one with 25 words? Thank you, poet friend, for showing us how it's done!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Deb!
DeleteBeautiful! And, I'm loving that format.
ReplyDeleteThanks and I like it, if only because it forces tightness.
DeleteWow so well said in so few words. And something we all wonder about at times!
ReplyDeleteI never stop questioning why people love me. Thanks.
DeleteAnd there is the other side of the coin.....playing the part of the devil's advocate.....will the other person still be beautiful once the fog lifts?
ReplyDeleteThanks, and I agree. That insecurity cuts both ways.
DeleteLove the questions in this.... Even the unspoken ones :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much - unspoken questions are my favorites sometimes.
DeleteAwesomeness.
ReplyDeleteFrom the Queen of Fancy Writing Awesomeness, that *is* a compliment!
DeleteI think so what a nice way to meet someone. http://gatelesspassage.com/2013/02/02/reflections/
ReplyDeleteI agree - the fog is gorgeous. Thanks for the comment.
DeleteWe all want to be appreciated...well spoken
ReplyDeleteThanks, I know *I* need to be appreciated.
DeleteA universal cry, well done !
ReplyDeleteOf course you will be. No worries!
ReplyDeleteAin't you sweet? Thanks!
DeleteReflections of a Sunday morning?
ReplyDeleteCHeers,
Martk Butkus
If your heart is in the right space, every morning is a Sunday morning. :) Thanks
DeleteMore importantly: will you still be mysterious when the fog lifts? :) I like the ambiance in this.
ReplyDeleteThanks, yeah, I'm some mystery, I am.
DeleteSoft and yet probing, into the insecurities we all have. i'm digging it, Mosk. i may just have to take up the 25-word-or-less challenge....
ReplyDeleteThank you, I challenge you!
DeleteWhat's up mates, good post and good arguments commented here, I am actually enjoying by these.

It's amazing how much visual texture you can put in so few words. I live in an area where most of the residents complain about foggy days, but I think they are so pretty. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the fog - it makes everything look soft and clean.

an ran excellent question. simple answer is to carry around a fog machine, but that could get cumbersome.
