Doubt Awakens

We meet in the fog,
cool and soft.

Lost in
embraces

and glances anew,

doubt awakens:

will I still be
beautiful
once the fog
lifts?

  1. Never doubt. Beauty resides within, and no fog can hide it. Great poem!

  4. I venture to guess even more so :) Down with doubt and you'll shine bright enough to chase the fog away. Love "Soupy Sales Format" by the way...sums up the last 20 years of my life! :D

  7. I have just been reading up about Soupy Sales. (Unknown to an Aussie like me.) Wow, what a man! But I didn't find any reference to the formula? Was that from his journalism days? Can you expand (briefly of course!)?

    1. Hi - Soupy Sales was a comic, not a journalist. He used to ask his viewers to write in but only "in 25 words or less" which is what I've deemed as the Soupy Sales Format.

  8. i want more... more of the doubt... more of the words... it's so well written and such an amazing thing told in such few words... totally pinning in on a superficial fear and hitting on the idea hiding in fog (perhaps being our true selves) ... in short, loved it, wanted more.

    1. Thanks- I thought - no prob 25 words. It forces one to edit. The first draft was 36 words.

I love short poems . .this one was perfect! :) Is a Soupy Sales poem just one with 25 words? Thank you, poet friend, for showing us how it's done!

  24. It's amazing how much visual texture you can put in so few words. I live in an area where most of the residents complain about foggy days, but I think they are so pretty. :)
