Public Service Poem #4: Expression

Every human creation

is an expression

of desire and will.

They can be

lifesaving vaccines,

jazz masterpieces,

kugel recipes,

beloved fables,

or they can be

pathological ideologies,

child pornography,

homemade dirty bombs,

Auschwitz.

So, I return to

the basic operating principle:

if it doesn’t make you

a better human being,

then stop it,

and find what will

make you

a better human being.

Better human beings

create better expressions

of desire and will.
