The Sacred and the Profane

Writing about
the grandeur, the mystery
the infinite grace of God,
I get few comments.

Writing about
my misadventures
of trying to quell
my miscreant penis,
these poems are very popular,

which goes to prove
the writer’s first rule:

write about

what
you
know.

  1. Oh, my friend. Stunning ending. Stunning.
Though I think that, like me, you have come to know both.

  2. Oh, wicked! Although I'm sure there's an ounce of truth in there... and a dash of mockery too.

  4. I read of a professor who, if his students were drifting, would just toss in the word sex and that would get their attention. It works. Funny that.

  5. Allthatis provided all his mammals with a penis, & plants with a stamen, so perhaps pro/recreation is a divine right, even for poets & miscreants; just saying.

  12. It also goes to prove that were not as mature as we'd sometimes like to believe :-)

  13. Excellent poem. I too came for the sacred and not the profane. Excellent quadrille except you did not use the prompt word -- "open".

Like your word choices..."miscreant" and "quell" and the obvious contrasts. Very effective.
