Balance
is an illusion,
only because we think
we need to achieve
equilibrium
to achieve peace.
is an illusion,
only because we think
we need to achieve
equilibrium
to achieve peace.
Remembering
to breathe
completely in
and then
completely out,
forgetting the past
and the future
resets everything,
wipes the slate clean.
to breathe
completely in
and then
completely out,
forgetting the past
and the future
resets everything,
wipes the slate clean.
It is as easy
as it sounds
and
it is not as easy
as it sounds.
Now go,
and
become balanced.

Easy and the hardest thing in the world.
ReplyDeleteI'm still trying to figure that out ~
ReplyDeleteGreat to see your name again, B! A perfectly balanced poem. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteNice paradox!
ReplyDeleteThe older I get, the more wobbly I become!
ReplyDeleteDo we really need that balance that we strive for.. Maybe wobbling is better...
ReplyDeleteYes, you are right....balance IS an illusion. We strive for it, but seldom attain it. It isn't easy to balance or be balanced. Smiles.
ReplyDeletebalancing is life-long... just when we think we've gotten it... it changes
ReplyDeleteMe too, Viv; getting old is not for sissies. This piece is very Zen (didn't Mama notice?), touching on the dissonance of techniques of yoga & meditation; finding the silence in the center & blocking all other stress & noise; something I could never do; just cannot quiet that mind.
ReplyDeleteContradictions in here...it's as easy as it sounds and it's not as easy as it sounds...demonstrate the complexity of the topic of balance. Great choice!
ReplyDeleteSimple and perfectly put. I agree with Bjorn...maybe wobbling is better. :)

ReplyDeleteOh.. goodness with ADHD that breathe in and out stuff will
ReplyDeletenot work for me.. to be still is to be crazy.. to move..
is divine for me.. and when I feel no weight
of 230LBS.. the success is plain to
feel.. in floating on terrestrial
land as heavy
light weight..:)
I have serious doubts that I'll ever succeed in learning this, but GREAT poem.
ReplyDeleteI often find the easiest hard thing to do is to be without thinking. Interesting read.
ReplyDeleteEasy for you to say. ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd apparently, easy for you to say beautifully.
Getting old is truly not for sissies. Balance is great - we sorta went along the same Zen lines in our following the prompt. Very interesting read.
ReplyDeleteBalance is good but hard to keep. I still think one should try.
ReplyDeleteYes go into the yin and yang! Balance will be very apparent immediately! Great thoughts Buddah!
ReplyDeleteHank
...and just for funsies, balance on three legs with one shorter than the others...now go. you totally got this, Mosk;) I enjoyed the absurd tone here, which is highly entertaining for me.
