Whatever It Is

Whatever it is
inside every living being
that makes it all
go,

lived in the flower
I saw growing out
of an open bag
of sand and concrete mix
out back by the trash cans.

That desperate,
unceasing,
mad energy
kept it stretching

skyward,

reaching out
to
the other side
of the Sun,

where the
face of God
was smiling.

  1. Nice, very nice, Buddah. God has a smile for every one of His creations, even the little flower plant growing from the cement sack. It's a two way deal, the plant reaches, any of His creation can also reach up for the smile if they will but do it.

  2. A wonderful smile it is. And whatever it is, it might be the same as beyond the sun

  7. Calming, lovely as a warm breeze, or cooling breath -- "stretching skyward -- reaching out to the Sun" -- Love that God was smiling on the other side. Beautiful poem.

  8. I love the imagery of a plant growing from concrete, such a metaphor.
