Numb (A Rehearsal)

I walk these
faux-comforting
corridors,
past loss,
elation,
birth,
death.

Numb.

Someday
I’ll walk these
one last time.

Last night
was just
a rehearsal.

  2. I'm so sorry about your mommy. :(

This is an excellent poem, Mosk. I especially like the first five lines, and consider it an extreme honor to provide any comfort I can ... definitely NEVER as your foe.

That numbness, when everyone is trying to be positive, and all it does it drive you deeper into the numbness. Stark and very real,

  14. It really hits all of us emotionally. It seems life does provide us with "rehearsals" for divers events, funerals & hospitals are top of the list. My mother passed when she was 39, over 50 years ago, but I watch so many others walking those worrisome corridors.

Makes me think of when I was in the hospital and walking the halls after my head injury. Well done, poignant.
