Small Pleasures

It is tempting
to overlook
the small pleasures
of life.

So unstoppable
is the weight of
this life,
that we can
become lost
looking
for the grand
production.

At the end of the day,
all we really have is
the laughter of others,
the warmth of good food
in our bodies,
good and restful sleep
holding on to a loved one.

These little things
in this otherwise drab
and indifferent world
really are
the big things.

  1. The opening really speaks to me:
    "It is tempting
    to over-look"

I can't ever see anything for what it is; I am constantly looking for layer up layer of meaning that probably isn't ever there. And while I'm doing that, I miss everything that's right in front of my face.

I know that's not your point, but it's what speaks to me.

Mosk, this rings so true. I notice it as I'm trying to piece a collection together too. I'm looking for the big thing, like in life, but it's the small tiny miracles, particles, heartaches to the simplest warmth of someone's hand. Slowing down and just taking it in. Yes. My wise friend.
