expecting a reflection,
but all I get is
programming.
I stare at the TV
expecting programming,
but all I get is
my reflection.
I close my eyes
and experience
this world
with my other senses,
and I am
instantly
disoriented,
then surprised,
and eventually
awakened.
Well, i just love this! Sometimes closing our eyes works best. Smiles. Lovely to see you at Poets United, Mosk.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, I empathize!
ReplyDeleteWow! Reminds me of Brecht and the need to defamiliarize in order to see ... that's my theatre speaking ... which is to say, WOW. I believe every word of this poem and it's poetic too! Now the video has me enthralled. It's been too long since I saw NETWORK. Perfect.
ReplyDeleteClosing our eyes is the only way to find truth and a good thing to practice, whether we do it as meditation or just to block out the programming. I love the way you express it in the lines:
ReplyDelete'...I am
instantly
disoriented,
then surprised,
and eventually
awakened'.
We are such willing slaves to propaganda...just how will we escape?
ReplyDeleteYour poem WOW and that video great team up
ReplyDeleteMuch♥️love
Is it all a dream?
ReplyDeleteA Wow from me too – there is so much truth in your words, a realisation of becoming ourselves when we turn off the noise.
ReplyDeleteI love solitude and silence, thinking of things or thinking of nothing, existing only for that very moment.
Thanks for the clip of the Peter Finch film which I can’t recall ever seeing - a then reality perhaps and/or an awful prophecy of what we have become, more so.

Sometimes all you need to do is close your eyes. Wonderful, B. Good to see you here.
