Apology Song (Prompt: Apology)
I’m sorry I ate so late last night
I’m sorry I let my alarm wake her up
I’m sorry I didn’t l kiss her goodbye
I’m sorry I didn’t leave five minutes sooner
I’m sorry I let this fool ahead of me on the onramp
I’m sorry I need soy milk in this coffee
I’m sorry I forgot to get that signature
I’m sorry I couldn’t take your call
I’m sorry I can’t keep you, it’s the budget
I’m sorry I ate so much at lunch
I’m sorry I dinged that car next to me
I’m sorry I can’t stay awake for your after-lunch meeting
I’m sorry I will get to it before I leave
I’m sorry I will make it up to you
I’m sorry I thought what’s-his-name has doing it
I’m sorry I forgot to fill up my tank at lunch
I’m sorry I said I’d pick him up on the way home
I’m sorry I kept you waiting
I’m sorry I am late for dinner
I’m sorry I got spaghetti sauce on my good tie
I’m sorry I don’t know if your teacher is right, honey
I’m sorry I just need some quiet time
I’m sorry I had that second helping of dessert
I’m sorry I forgot to call the insurance guy
I’m sorry I’ll check to see if the alarm is set
I’m sorry I can see you’re not in the mood
I’m sorry I didn’t do so well today, Lord
but if you give me another one tomorrow,
I’ll try to do better.

Awwwwn! I love it! It's fun to read, easy to relate to and the final line is so cute. <3 Thanks for bringing me here. <3
ReplyDeleteHave a superb day!
Thanks, and actually many days, that is how i close my prayers. Thanks again - Mosk
DeleteI'm sorry but, I have to tell you, I'm not sorry you were sorry for all of this, because it all made for a good read :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! From all this regret comes something of value.
DeleteSounds like my life.
ReplyDeleteThen take this advice: knock it off! Life's not meant to be lived that way. :)
Deleteyou know...i tend to apologize way too quickly as well...often loading things that go wrong on my shoulders and feel guilty where i don't have to be.. i need to work on this...ha...see..you made me make a deep and confessional statement...smiles
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm not sorry I read this! Great job on this...I think some days it seems like I spend my whole day apologizing for something or other :)
ReplyDeleteI don't have a problem with apologizing, usually I'm wrong and it needs to come out. Yes, I'm excessively guilty as well, but I'd rather be that way: ever vigilant than completely sloppy and running all over people's feelings without a care.
ReplyDeleteSee? There's nothing wrong with you. :) Mosk
That's pretty much the running dialogue in my brain
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of putting mine to a hip-hop beat. Thanks!
DeleteThis is my interior dialogue.

Good, that shows you have a conscience, you moral person!
Deleteyou made me smile... some days ARE like that...but it is always the possibility of a better tomorrow that gets us through.
ReplyDeleteThanks, yes there's always tomorrow, and if there ain't, than that's a whole 'nother bag of bananas.
Deletei think that our sorry's though def help...there are far too many of those others that will just trample people...so i would rather be sorry than alone...
ReplyDeleteAMEN! I'd rather be sorry than alone - now that's wisdom! Thanks!
DeleteOne thing about God, He always gives you another day to try! He knows we are only human.....
ReplyDeleteYes, and I'm sure there are some days when he says "Maybe I should have made Moskowitz a platypus." Thanks for the comment.
DeleteI thought I was the one who was always sorry.
ReplyDeleteNo, sorry, my friend, I'm the one who is always sorry.
DeleteI'm sorry I didn't comment, I'm sorry I have no pun
ReplyDeleteAlways tomorrow until there are none !!
I enjoyed your take on todays prompt!
Thanks! It's one of my many list poems.
DeleteI'm sorry I didn't comment, I'm sorry I have no pun

I enjoyed your take on todays prompt!
well that's a lot of "I'm Sorry _____" but an apology goes a looong way in life...
ReplyDeleteSorry is as sorry does, and here the speaker seems a bit overwhelmed by it all...but as a catechism of repentance, it works well, and lord knows we all need those from time to time.
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful read--so many things to be grateful for--even the chance to apologize!
ReplyDeleteReading your poem had me thinking of all the things I'm sorry for too, but we can't get down on ourselves for everything, even when life overwhelms. Have to look to the brighter side and do the best we can and be thankful for what we did and what we've got! Thanks for sharing this!
ReplyDeletehow did this end up? did you do better the next day?
ReplyDeletepportunity on mars
Oh I would never hazard a list like that! Loved your ending :)
ReplyDeleteSay 20 hail Marys and pray to Saint Creola for guidance. Next!
ReplyDeleteMosk, you do the list poem so well. :) Love this.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you feel all this guilt...but not sorry for your inventiveness...Yay! Good write!
ReplyDeleteLife is tough for flawed humans I believe:)
