Apology Song (Prompt: Apology)

I’m sorry I ate so late last night
I’m sorry I let my alarm wake her up
I’m sorry I didn’t l kiss her goodbye

I’m sorry I didn’t leave five minutes sooner
I’m sorry I let this fool ahead of me on the onramp
I’m sorry I need soy milk in this coffee

I’m sorry I forgot to get that signature
I’m sorry I couldn’t take your call
I’m sorry I can’t keep you, it’s the budget

I’m sorry I ate so much at lunch
I’m sorry I dinged that car next to me
I’m sorry I can’t stay awake for your after-lunch meeting

I’m sorry I will get to it before I leave
I’m sorry I will make it up to you
I’m sorry I thought what’s-his-name has doing it

I’m sorry I forgot to fill up my tank at lunch
I’m sorry I said I’d pick him up on the way home
I’m sorry I kept you waiting

I’m sorry I am late for dinner
I’m sorry I got spaghetti sauce on my good tie
I’m sorry I don’t know if your teacher is right, honey

I’m sorry I just need some quiet time
I’m sorry I had that second helping of dessert
I’m sorry I forgot to call the insurance guy

I’m sorry I’ll check to see if the alarm is set
I’m sorry I can see you’re not in the mood
I’m sorry I didn’t do so well today, Lord

but if you give me another one tomorrow,
I’ll try to do better.

    1. Then take this advice: knock it off! Life's not meant to be lived that way. :)

  4. you know...i tend to apologize way too quickly as well...often loading things that go wrong on my shoulders and feel guilty where i don't have to be.. i need to work on this...ha...see..you made me make a deep and confessional statement...smiles

  5. Well, I'm not sorry I read this! Great job on this...I think some days it seems like I spend my whole day apologizing for something or other :)

  6. I don't have a problem with apologizing, usually I'm wrong and it needs to come out. Yes, I'm excessively guilty as well, but I'd rather be that way: ever vigilant than completely sloppy and running all over people's feelings without a care.

See? There's nothing wrong with you. :) Mosk

  10. i think that our sorry's though def help...there are far too many of those others that will just trample people...so i would rather be sorry than alone...

  15. well that's a lot of "I'm Sorry _____" but an apology goes a looong way in life...

  16. Sorry is as sorry does, and here the speaker seems a bit overwhelmed by it all...but as a catechism of repentance, it works well, and lord knows we all need those from time to time.

  17. This is a wonderful read--so many things to be grateful for--even the chance to apologize!

  18. Reading your poem had me thinking of all the things I'm sorry for too, but we can't get down on ourselves for everything, even when life overwhelms. Have to look to the brighter side and do the best we can and be thankful for what we did and what we've got! Thanks for sharing this!
