Everywhere I look
I see the flock
lost in their prayers:
young and old
rich and poor
Jew and Gentile.
Each in holy communion
huddled around
their electronic beads,
their mutant rosaries.
Speaking in tongues
to unseen companions,
each believer
in holy solitude
connected
to something greater
than themselves.
In gratitude
they offer
the abstract sacrifice
of their time.
At last,
the world is of one accord.
Bridging the gap
between human loneliness
and cosmic emptiness
is this

Excellent, Mosk....just excellent! "Each believer in holy solitude" indeed! And, yes, the God with a Hundred Names!
ReplyDeleteah, you almost had me there :D love it!!
ReplyDeleteThe irony of it all ~ I think we are all lost in that techno mode of "prayer" ~
ReplyDeleteThis is really sad, actually. Maybe we should be tanning instead, eh? The sun and her warmth are just around the corner.
ReplyDeleteYep, that sounds about right.
ReplyDeleteAlas, too too true. Kanzensakura is Spencer
ReplyDeleteThere are true believers that loneliness can be cured by being connected.. Maybe it is the new religion.
ReplyDeleteI thought you were going one way and in the end you pulled up and effectively surprised me!
ReplyDeleteI was a little offended as the rosary and prayer have helped me at different times of my life... but you ended it splendidly! Well done.
