The Plea (Prompt: Quit Doing That Poem)

Of the multitude of sins
you commit:

from dishonoring our mothers and fathers
for comedic effect,
to encouraging the coveting of all
things material and shiny,
to violating the Sabbath
to attend the early bird sale,

I implore you,
Madison avenue:

please stop co-opting
the soundtrack of
our collective
culture and memory

to sell more
beer,
cell phones
and SUVs.
